Book 1: Final Project

We are offering a one in a life time chance for your kid to see what an angel's life could be like. Here are a few items that you could receive if you come to visit: a set of angel wings (ages 4+), a poster of your favorite character (ages 12+), a colorful mug with your favorite character on it, and an iPhone case printed with your favorite character and their signature.
In, Fallen, a girl named Luce is shipped off to a school for insane children (she is not really insane and neither is anyone else in this book). She meets a guy and falls for that guy, but this guy continues to ignore her. She really wants to figure out why the guy acts so strange around her. So, she asks her friend Penn to go to the library with her so that she can find a book that a family member in the guy’s family wrote. “She took comfort in the soft occasional sound of turning pages.” They have no success because it seems as if someone else is interested in his history as well, so she walks back to her room disappointed. One day Luce and Daniel (the guy she likes) are swimming and when he comes out of the water, Luce sees something on his back and the sun makes whatever is on his back look like angel wings. She begins to dream about Daniel, “And while Luce dreamed below of the most glorious wings unfurling-the likes of which she'd never seen before-two angels in the rafters shook hands.” This is true because Luce finds out the truth of Daniel. As said later on in the book by Luce, "I'm in love with an angel.” Towards the end of the book, Daniel has to save Luce from the insane teacher. He has to save her because their teacher is about to ill her and Luce knows this because she has already killed one of Luce’s best friends, Penn.
This book allows your child to relive this book and connect with all the different characters. The angel wings in this book are essential because it leads to Luce figuring out what Daniel really is and as to why he tries to ignore her all the time. Despite, the fantasy genre, this book can help the reader to connect with the characters feelings within the book. This book offers a chance for the reader to understand the meaning of friendship because Luce and Penn are always there for each other when needed. The book would be sold in stores along with the book about Daniel’s background history. This will give the reader the chance to understand why Daniel is important to the story and how he ties in the plot. Stores that this book would mainly be sold at would be your local bookstores or any grocery shopping place that happens to sell books. Although there are many types of different books and genres out there, this book would be the main attraction because it offers exclusive items that one can buy for any child of any age.
Fallen
, is a great book despite some foul language but, is highly recommended for those who like fantasy and romance novels combined. Due to the fact that this book is recommended for people who are thirteen (or older) years of age, the foul language in can be reduced. The angel wings that are being offered will be custom fit for your child so that the wings are not too tight or too loose.

Blogpost 4

I read the book, Fallen, this book was about a girl named Luce who was sent to a special school because her parents and the police believed she had killed her crush.  One minute Luce and her crush were kissing and then the next minute Luce saw the shadows that had been haunting her for years and then there was a fire that everyone believed Luce had started.  So she was sent away with no connection to the outside world.  At the school, Swords & Cross, Luce started to fall for a guy named Daniel. But, every time she wanted to talk to him, he would walk away as if she didn't exsist.  If you read this book you will find out why Daniel ignores Luce and why Luce sees the shadows everywhere.  I liked the fact that during the end of almost every chapter, the author left you on edge.  I reason as to why I didn't like this book was because it had a weird plot line and was very hard to follow.  This book sort of met my expectations in a book, but there were some parts that didn't.  I like a book that has a lot of action in it because then I want to read more.

To me a book is an author telling a story that everyone can connect to.  Whether the book is a biography, non-fiction, historical fiction, or even science fiction, everyone can relate to some part in the book even if they don’t know it.  The reader could have just experienced something very traumatic or very exciting and then they could read a book and experience that emotion all over again just from reading the detail in the book.  Another reason that helps describe what a book means to me is that with ipads, kindles, and other electronics, I don’t think that the reader experiences the full effect of what the book is trying to say.   I think this because when you open up the brand new hardcover or paperback book you just bought and start reading, I think it’s easier to be able to compare yourself to the characters and it’s also easier to picture in your head what is happening within the plot line.  it makes you feel as if you are in the story experiencing whatever the author was writing about in the book.  With electronic devices, it gets annoying when you have you have to flip the page back in forth especially for a project.  That happened to me over the summer.  When I was working on my English reading project, I had bought the book I was planning to read on my kindle.  After a while I started to get annoyed with having to swipe my finger across the screen just to find one quote.  This is why I find hardcover or paperback books easier to read because you can easily turn back to the page you want to go to.  This is also the reason as to why I agree with the author, Nancy Jo Sales, because she says that eBooks on electronic devices are not as good as your regular old hardback kind of book.  Unlike, with an electronic device, your device could freeze and then what would you do!   This is why I believe any book is better than a book on an electronic device.  Books are teachers!

I chose to read the book, Fallen, because it sounded very interesting. The cover of the book grabbed my attention because it looked dark and mysterious. From the details listed about the book, I have concluded that this book is about a girl who goes to a special school because people think she is insane. They believe that she has done something bad and she knows that she never did anything. So, her parents send her to a special school knowing that she won`t have any type of contact with the outside world. The authors states at this book is exciting, romantic, and an ultimate page turning thriller.  The author of this book, Lauren Kate, lives in California.  She is a creative writer and her first book was, The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove. I am looking forward to reading this novel because I like exciting and page turning thriller type books. Those characteristics in a book keep me intrigued and make me want to read more into the book. Another reason as to why I am interested in reading this book is because I like to read suspenseful novels and this book seems to be very suspensefulband intriguing. These are the reasons that I want to read this book.

Why I Read

Why I Read:

I like to read because it allows me to experience the emotions and feelings of the characters in the book.  It allows me to escape reality for the time being and think about another person’s life besides my own.  Another reason why I enjoy reading is because I really enjoy reading and thinking about what is about to happen next.  I like how the author leaves you on edge at the end of chapters, even though it is irritating at times.  I like how the author uses foreshadowing to give you a hint as to what is going to happen later in the book.  I like reading books because they can help you to gain knowledge of important events, such as a nonfiction book or an autobiography.  Books can inspire others if based upon a true story.  Reading can help take one’s mind off things if they are not in a good mood.  I enjoy reading because there are many different genres that can be chosen from.  I like to read because you may believe that you do not like a certain genre, but when you actually read a book from that genre, it may turn out that you like that genre and you wouldn’t have known that because you never tried reading that genre before.
